Are there any plans to release new cymbal packs for SP2 anytime soon, either paid or free?

I’m still using SP2 to drive SD3, but I’d really love to use SP2’s sounds directly. So far, the cymbals are what’s keeping me from doing that. I just haven’t heard any that I really like yet, especially the hi-hats.

Another feature I’d love to see is the ability to adjust the levels of individual microphones on the drum sounds, especially overheads and room mics. I’m curious whether others have expressed interest in something like that, and whether it’s something Sunhouse has considered.

Hi @scoTTTimo,

The Cymbal Expansion Pack will be updated with artist vault Sabian cymbals graciously lent to us by @BillyG so we could record and map them. That will be released simultaneously with the 2.8 update.

Those include:

`Sabian AA Brilliant Crash 17`
`Sabian HH Sound Control Crash 14`
`Sabian HH Sound Control Crash 16`
`Sabian Signature Fierce Crash 18`

`Sabian HHX Chinese 18`
`Sabian HHX Splash 10`

`Sabian HH Raw Bell Dry Ride 21`

`Sabian X-celerator Hi-Hat 13`

This will require a reinstall of the Cymbal Expansion pack. Usually we are able to auto-update the packs with the software point updates, but since this is a special case involving a large update to the samples folder, we decided to ask users to reinstall the pack to get the new cymbals. We wanted to get you guys these amazing cymbals as quickly as possible!

So when the 2.8 update goes live (hopefully soon!) head to your accounts page and grab the Cymbal Expansion pack.

And there are packs in planning and development that have more cymbal and hi-hat mappings.

On the subject of auto-updates, to reply to your other question: with the addition of the Convolution Reverb effect, we included room emulation on all of the `drumset` instruments.

Since convolution room emulation is a CPU intensive effect, we kept each kit with just one convolution reverb effect, but if your computer can handle it, you can add a convolution reverb to your cymbals/hi-hats and blend in a room sound.
