All I can say is WOW. Better than I expected and honestly that was a lot.
I will post more soon but honestly I am having to much fun just playing the presets and trying to stop my mind from going off the rails of possibilities. That will definitely happen but for now I’m just having fun..
I have been experimenting with both the Evans cymbals and my own acoustic cymbals since the package arrived yesterday. Both are working great and the software is recognising all the zones of my acoustic cymbals pretty perfectly. I’ve tried it with a variety of cymbal sizes and types. The only one that was less successful was a very dry Agop Dry Dark Crash (because I think the separate sounds were not so clearly different). When playing the new cymbal presets I did lower the buffer size in the SP software below 128 other otherwise I could feel a bit of latency. However I’m mostly using the standalone software with acoustic cymbals and a low buffer size just to send MIDI to control synths and samples in Ableton and that is working great. Will be posting some videos in the coming days and will share here.
Quick and very messy pic and might help. So the db ones,Snare has my own triggers and the Sunhouse . L80’s my own.and yes I have tried them but considering they’re not officially supported yet I am going to wait on posting.
Left floor and 16 inch Rototom Sunhouse only.
latency is such a subjective thing. On my setup it feels the same as my Pearl Mimic Pro. But I have not measured the latency.
It is going to be host system based for latency and not the triggers.in my opinion.
The reason I use the Mimic Pro is because of the feel to me vs the other big brands. And that is what I am judging the latency against.
I am running a 64 buffer. Using it standalone with the portal and the mimic going into the mpcx
To record Audio, MIDI and Monitor so I don’t have to fire up my entire system.
Bottom line for me so far they trigger as well as the drum triggers and that is the WOW part of the post.
I can actually feel ok selling my Meinl cymbals. Again my opinion and for my use case.
