Loop stops by using acoustic snare

I’ve discovered a new problem.
I have an acoustic snare and a snare with mesh heads on which I play my loops using a sequencer (start - stop). Actually, that works, but as soon as I play the acoustic snare, it sends a signal to the other snare, the one with the mesh head, causing the loop to stop. Obviously, that shouldn’t happen. I’m sure you’ll tell me that I need to adjust the sensitivity correctly. I’ve tried that several times, but unfortunately it doesn’t help.
Any ideas on how I can solve this problem?

Hi @swissdrummer,

One thing I could think of that is maybe the problem would be that your loop has an input filter set to All Snares, and so any snare would trigger the loop to start/stop.

In the screenshot below, you can see I’ve set it up so that the loop has an input filter for Snare 2 which corresponds to a Hardware input I’ve called “mesh snare”. I have a hardware input called “acoustic snare” that has a Snare 1 input filter that will not trigger the loop.

If this is not what is happening, you can send us an email at support@sunhou.se with a video of your issue, and we can troubleshoot more there.

Hey, thanks, I’ll try it out this week and let you know how it goes.

So, I have the same settings as you. The “sequencer” snare is set to “Snare 2.”

I have the acoustic snare in analog input 3.

Can I send you a screenshot?

Sounds good, yes, a screenshot would be helpful

One thing I’m realizing: do you have sensors attached to both your mesh and your acoustic snare, or is it just your mesh snare that you have a sensor attached to?

I only have a sensor on the mesh snare. I connected the acoustic snare using a jack and microphone.

In the first screenshot, I had set “Snare 2” for the first one and “all snares” for the others. I have now changed this to “Snare 2.” Maybe that was the problem?!

Okay, I see. My advice above only applies if you have sensors on both snares and need the software to only respond to one of your snares.

You can set your input filters back to “All Snares” or “Snare 1”

“Snare 2” only makes sense if you have more than 1 sensored snare.

Have you tried using the velocity I/O panel on the looping sequencer?: Use Thresholding | Sensory Percussion 2 Help

No, I haven’t tried that yet.

That looks quite complicated to me.

It’s pretty simple, and definitely necessary if you’re dealing with loops. Every module has a Velocity I/O panel that can be revealed by clicking the top right button in the corner of the module and selecting Velocity I/O:

Then you just raise it up so that it won’t be triggered by ghost notes or tiny, insignificant cross-talk (which is what I suspect is happening - there’s a bit of cross talk from your acoustic snare coming into your mesh snare causing the loop to choke):

I was having a problem with an acoustic snare triggering my bass drum sensor at one point. The fix for my issue was to use the void function when I was calibrating the drums.

hey stevenz
Unfortunately, your tips and tricks didn’t help. The problem still exists. Would it make sense to control the loops with a pad instead of the sensor?
I have a Roland SPD-01 Wave Pad. Would this work? If so, how would I control it?

Ah, cool. Where can I find this void function?

So, you set the void function on the bass drum?
