
Craig_Walkner
Craig Walkner holds a degree in Percussion Performance from UW-Madison and is a six-time Wisconsin Area Music Industry award winner. He is a veteran of the live and studio scene with a discography of 27 albums that have been heard across the globe.
Craig has performed locally and nationally as a drummer/percussionist in a multitude of ensembles with genres from classical to jazz, rock to rap, and currently experimental/prog rock. His bands have opened for Brother Ali, The Fray, Gin Blossoms, Hanson, Ozric Tentacles, Zion I, and The Gufs.
He has performed alongside such drumming greats as James Sewrey, Anthony DiSanza, Siggi Baldursson, Steve Bowman, Bob Chmel, and Louie Bellson.
His musical performances have taken him to some of the most famous venues in the nation including The Roxy and Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, CBGB’s in NYC, the House of Blues in Chicago and the Mitch Albom radio show in Detroit. He has performed at Progfest in Chapel Hill, NC, SXSW, and Wisconsin venues Summerfest, Pabst Theater, Shank Hall, The Rave, Majestic Theatre, Barrymore Theatre, and Live on King Street.
Under the monikers Silent Man Standing and Moo, he has composed and released three solo experimental electronic/ambient albums.
He currently plays drums with Far Corner and their November 2018 release, “Risk”, has received rave reviews in the prog rock community and is embraced by numerous sites in their lists of Top Albums of 2018.
A highly acclaimed percussion instructor, Craig has taught students of all ages and abilities for over 20 years. He has edited and proofed percussion manuscripts for some of today’s most in-demand percussion books published by Hal Leonard and works full time at Musicnotes in Middleton, WI.
