2 feature requests

Hello-
I have two feature requests for the software:

  1. A gate/expander effect. As a simple way to integrate hi-hats (I have a real, non-electronic, low-volume hi-hat set) with my system I simply have a condenser mic plugged into the Audio 1 input on the Evans box. I then have that analogue input as a layer in my set. To make this work nicely one effect that seems to be missing is a gate/expander effect (there is a compressor and limiter). Without this effect the mic is picking up a lot of background noise and the hits on my other drums (which are mesh pads). With a simple gate effect this would be a simple and great way to integrate a traditional hi-hat set up into the system.

  2. Some kind of built-in recorder into the software. Right now just recording my output seems so complex and convoluted (either using a second audio interface or external recorder, trying to get Loopback to work (which I can’t succed in), or using the Ableton plugin which still requires so much extra work and futzing, and also adds an additional latency which makes playing in time difficult). The whole system is so simple and well-concieved… except for trying to simply record. If there was a way I could have a click track I can hear, and just press record in the app… it would be amazing.

Hey there. A gate and expander could be cool. Check out their recent Training tutorial. Instead of a gate, you can go into Training mode for the problem sensor and either work with the thresholds, sensitively etc OR you can Void the exact sound or drum, that’s causing your sensor to trigger. I had watched the older version, glad I checked the new version out.

I totally get you on the recording side. It is far too complicated, especially when compared to how user friendly everything else about this thing is. I just figured it out and I’ve been working at it for about 1x month, not joking. Simply put, you need Ableton (apparently you can use 1-2 sensors with other DAWS, not more tho) you can use the cheaper lite version, but then you need the correct template, in this case it’s the 7x sensor template. There’s certainly more to cover. Just know it can be done and these dudes can guide you through it. Good luck

Thanks! The issue is that it’s not a sensor I’m working with, it’s a mic (micing a hi-hat) plugged into the interface and routed via an audio input in the app, which doesn’t have any of the controls of a sensor input. You can still add effects to it but, alas, there is no gate/expander.

I hear you about the overall user friendliness of it all. That’s one of the reasons I got it and the whole thing is so well thought out and designed. But not being able to record in a simple way is very frustrating. I’ve tried using it inside of Ableton, but again find it very futzy and I get too large of a latency to really be able to record inside it via the metronome/click track.

A most ideal version of the software would: allow for plugins (VST, AU), have a quick recorder with a click track, and in a perfect world, have a midi track that it records to as well.
