Adding a pad from my E Kit

So Im trying to add a pad from my e-kit to my sensory percussion setup. I can get the pad to work but the sensitivity is maxed out and none of the sensitivity settings seem to effect it. Like, if you just look at the pad it triggers. So my question is there any way to adjust the sensitivity of an external drum pad?

Hi @TJ_pizza - how are you connecting your pad to SP? Are you using MIDI? Or are you plugging it directly into the Portal and treating it like a drum sensor?

I have managed to have multiple roland triggers or pads connected to SP module. Unfortunately, to get the sensitivity right, you have to find a way to amplify the signal before connecting it to the module. I have achieved that either with a +20db pad from an active DI box or with a pre-amp. In short, you can do it, but you need more equipment and cables…

I have it going in directly like a sensor

Hey @TJ_pizza whoops, sorry for dropping this thread. I would recommend connecting your pad into one of the combo XLR jacks on the front of the Portal. The Drum sensor inputs are only designed to work with the Sensory Percussion drum sensors, which is why you’re not getting a good signal.

With the combo inputs, you can adjust the gain as needed. Give that a shot and let me know how it goes!

I’m attempting to use a Roland PDX-6 pad. Is it possible to trigger a sample from Sensory Percussion? I have a screenshot for reference. I am using an Audio Insert and the pad IS working, I can add Effects, like Reverb for ex. However, I haven’t figured out how to use the pad to trigger a sample from the SP library.

yeah that’s what I did. is setting it up as a sensor the only way to be able to add like samples to it? im using my e kick drum right now as a mute, but ultimately would like to add my e cymbals into the mix

So you were able to use a Roland pad to trigger a sample within Sensory Percussion and NO Evans trigger involved? Any insight would be appreciated

I’m asking about using a Roland pad ONLY, NO Evans trigger. You said you got it working but then asked about the possibility of not using an “SP trigger w a Roland pad” so you’re using both pad and SP trigger?

I used a pad from my alesis e kit. Plugged in with an instrument cable. If you add it as a sensor in the program it works.
