Wondering if there might be any plans to incorporate other standard stick types (brushes, mallets, etc) in to the cymbal training? Hadn’t occurred to me now but just started playing around with brushes and mallets on my acoustic cymbals with the SP cymbal sensors. At the moment it seems they don’t really register but perhaps it could open up interesting possibilities in the future? Brush ring end scrapes, etc. Would love to hear if this is something the SP team are thinking about!
yeah, that would definitely be a great addition. At the moment, the cymbal model doesn’t have any mallets or brushes incorporated, so I’m not surprised it doesn’t work well. We’re focused on expanding support for other low-volume cymbals (L80s) and regular acoustic cymbals first. But this could be something we fold in after that’s done. Thanks!

Thanks! Interestingly Glenn Kotche’s hard mallets that he was using on the crotales in the new SP video seemed to be working well on the cymbals too

I recently played a gig where I had to use mallets for cymbal rolls - added one acoustic cymbal to the set up, ran a mic to the interface and mixed that into the various kits. I was in a remote room - mix engineer just thought it was more cymbals - blended really well with the SP cymbals.

Thanks! That’s cool, but for my setup I’m playing regular acoustic cymbals with the cymbal sensors. I’m not looking to replicate acoustic cymbal sounds with samples. I’m looking to use brushes, mallets, etc on the cymbals to trigger electronic sounds & send MIDI in the same way I can with sticks.
