Drum Mutes with Evans Hybrid Sensors

Hello! I just bought an Evans Hybrid Sound System, and am really looking forward to learning how to use it. I am planning on using the sensors with my acoustic drums for gigging, but for practicing at home I can’t play at full volume because it’s too loud. I currently am using Vic Firth drum mutes to dampen my drums. Will these work with the hybrid sensors? Or do I need to buy new shells just to use with mesh heads? I would love to put mesh heads on my gigging drums, but since I am planning on playing out regularly I can’t swap heads every time I want to practice at home. Does anyone have experience with this?

I’ve used every type of muffling/mesh/full head imaginable. Just make SURE if you use mufflers that you train the sensors WITH THEM ON. You might have to spend a few extra minutes in the training getting each zone to read properly, but tbh ever since they launched SP2 those issues have mostly disappeared. The one zone that gets most effected is the “damped hit” zone. If your drums are already muffled make sure you REALLY press in to the head when you train your dampened zone.

That’s amazing, thanks for the tips! Very encouraging that I can use them with mufflers, that way I don’t have to buy a new set of shells haha. I’ll give it a try once everything arrives and see how it goes!
