One feature I really miss from my other hybrid drum setup is the workflow provided by the Yamaha EAD10 iOS Recording app.
The app itself wasn’t great - it had plenty of bugs and performance issues - but it got one thing almost perfectly right:
Import any audio file in seconds
Automatically reduce or remove the drum track with just a couple of taps
Record your own drum performance over the song
Save everything together as a synchronized video
The entire process was incredibly fast and required almost no setup. It made practicing, creating drum covers, and sharing performances effortless.
I’d love to see a similar workflow implemented here. There are already excellent AI stem separation tools available, so even a basic integration would be hugely valuable.
For drummers like me, this would remove a lot of friction from recording covers and practice sessions and it would make the software much more compelling as an all-in-one solution.
I’d be very interested to hear if other drummers would use a feature like this.
Side note: I can see that Sunhouse has taken a different direction and I completely respect that.
As a product designer myself, I know how much thought, planning and development goes into building a product of this scale. Features like this aren’t trivial and every roadmap involves trade-offs.
That said, I’d genuinely be interested to know whether this kind of workflow is something that’s on your roadmap, or if you’re exploring alternative solutions for drummers who want a faster “record a cover” experience.
I have been thinking about this since it was posted. I am thinking about a ‘record reference video’ option might help troubleshooting issues. Might have helped out when I was having crosstalk miss-triggers. Video can be very taxing on a system, so I am now wondering if I should go dig out one of my zoom cameras and begin to capture an overhead video when it might be needed or when I am trying to make adjustments.
Good angle! Haven’t thought about it like this. The solution could have multiple applications, troubleshooting / support case documentation being one of them. SP livestreams being another.
