Hi-Hat pedal tension issue

Hi all,

I am getting weird behaviour from my newly-bought Hi-Hat Sensor, specifically when it comes down to pedal tension. When fully closed, the hi-hat still randomly triggers open sounds, seemingly more often when playing on the edge. Pedal chicks are also very inconsistent, failing to trigger a proper closed chick sound about a quarter of the time.

I have double checked the sensor alignment and tried using other cables. The issue persists. In the portal I can see the range in the Hi-hat Tension graph continuously sliding towards open, even when the hats are kept shut, which I doubt it’s intended.

Looking around the forum I’ve found this thread partially showing the same issue that I’m facing with the chicks. Unfortunately, it has not been replied with a solution.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Hi @tarnoviziano Have you tried using the pedal tension editor on the Hardware Input panel?

Patrick went over this panel in the last live stream, which might also be helpful to watch.

I would 1) make sure the hi-hat module is tightened and the grooves are aligned (you can review the setup guide here) and 2) try the tension editor. If neither of those help, then there might be something else going on. I’d recommend you generate a Diagnostic Report (from the Help menu) and send it to support@sunhou.se and we can do more troubleshooting.

Thanks!

Thank you for the reply! The grooves are aligned, and I was tinkering a litte bit earlier with the tension editor without much success. Tomorrow I’m gonna try once again and eventually send that report. Thanks a lot!

I commented on that original thread and my issue was resolved with a firmware update.

I see. Mine is already up to date… I’ve sent the report via mail, hopefully it’s something I’m doing wrong in the setup and not the sensory being faulty.
