I have been playing around with setting up a note controller on my kick drum this weekend and I keep running into the same issue. When I set the note controller type to velocity and the drum type to kick I get no response from the virtual input or actual input. I do however get a response if I set the drum type to snare. Not sure, maybe I am just missing something here.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and apologies for the late response.
I’ve confirmed that this is a bug with the Note Controller - it doesn’t work in its default surface type when set to kick. However, if you set the surface type to snare it will work.
There are other upgrades to the Note Controller that are coming, and so we will fix this issue in an update.
In the meantime, you should be able to cover most use cases with the relatively recent addition Pitch & Scale panel.
So for this use case, you can just create a module (Group, Sequencer, Drum Map, etc) and presumably you’d want to filter it by All Kicks, or a specific Kick virtual input.
Then you just need to reveal the Pitch & Scale panel and create an assignment on the Note Control slider.
