Midi I/O not selectable - issue

Dear support team and other users,
I came across this issue several times now and would love to have support on it.

My issue is: the Midi inputs and outputs displayed in the preferences of the Portal plug-in running on Ableton are not selectable therefore I can route midi signal (notes, cc, etc) to another software I would like to control while playing on my set.

The weird thing is that this issue happens randomly or at least I can’t understand what trigger this problem.
When I first created the ableton project the Midi I/O where displayed and available, now after opening the project again there are not.
What I have changed that I can recall is the creating of a aggregate device merging Evans Portal and my K-Mix to have more analog input and output.

What am I doing wrong or what should am I be aware of in order to not have this time consuming issue anymore?

Hi @lorenzosetti,

Just a quick clarification that this forum is for user-to-user support. The quickest, best way to get in touch with Sunhouse support is by starting a chat on our website or writing an email to support@sunhou.se.

For this issue, my best guess is that it has something to do with the aggregate device you’ve created. I’m not 100% certain that’s what’s going on, but it seems likely to me that those MIDI selections in the plugin would rely on the Portal being the I/O (and not aggregated with another interface).

Luckily, I think there’s a solution that should work for you: to just route the MIDI out of Sensory Percussion to a channel in Ableton and then route that channel in Ableton to where-ever you need it to go:
