I am loving this setup. It is in my home office and I take breaks throughout the day to jam out. I like using a nice timbre headphone like HD600 but noticed it needed more power than the portal could provide. The portal and the Midgard are about the same size so they stack nicely.
I like these Agean Natural R-Series. They are medium volume and pair well with the dbOne heads in volume.
Also, having the headphones be open back is great so you can hear your cymbals and slightly reducing some of the high frequencies when the cymbals get intense.
I tried to make it look clean and cable managed it all. Proud of it. Very inviting to jam out.
Hi. This set up looks great. I’ve got the same yamaha kit on the way. My intention is to dedicate it to my sensory percussion set up, and use mesh heads much like you have. Did you remove the snare mechanism from the floor tom completely or just the snare wires? Also, I can’t quite tell from the pictures but did you leave the stock reso heads on the underside of the snare and toms?
Did you receive your drums yet? Yes, I took out the entire snare mechanism for the floor tom, was adding a lot of unwanted noise. I also had to brace the snare mechanism to stop rattling as well.
I left stock reso heads on and just tuned it. I live in a house with brick walls so I didn’t have to worry about sound too much.
