When I hit the drum and trigger the sample, the level is always lower (when I’m hitting the drum loud) than if I pressed the same zone in the software (with the mouse). When I hit the drum (hard), I want the level of the sample to be as loud as the level is when I press the same zone in the software.

The first thing you should ensure is that you have auto-level turned on, or that the gain is set correctly.
If so, loud rimshots should register at full scale on your channel input meter:
If that is happening and you want a different velocity I/O response, then you can accomplish it in one or both of two ways:
- You can adjust the velocity I/O curve in the threshold panel. You might try experimenting with a curve like this:
- You can adjust the velocity I/O curve of individual samplers, as well, which is helpful if you want some samplers to have different dynamic responses than others:
