Recommendations for heavier duty and/or extending 3.5mm cables

Hey everyone! Does anyone have a recommendation/macguyver trick for extending the 3.5mm cables without losing latency/gaining interference? I have kind of a whacky setup I’m planning that’s gonna require me to have some drums spread wildly far apart.

Additionally, and perhaps even higher priority…I need to find cables that are heavier duty and have better shielding. As much as I love the simplicity of 3.5mm cables I’ve noticed that after enough usage they start to have faults or weak points that cause false triggering, or pick up vibrations from the drums. I’m thinking of trying to figure out an adaptor scenario into 1/4” or XLR for the longer runs and then back to 3.5” right before….has anyone tried this or something similar? If not I guess I’m about to go down a rabbit hole and report back lol

The TRS cables carry power from the Portal to the sensor. But they are just standard TRS. So you could look for longer/heavier TRS cables (I think up to 25ft should be fine). If you’re going to go this route, I’d recommend getting cables with straight plugs. It will be hard to find L plugs that fit into the well at the top of the portal. Something like this.

If you need longer than that, then converting to XLR should work in theory. How long do you need?

25’ should be MORE than enough, this is what I was thinking but before I ordered a bunch of cables I figured a quick check in was smart haha.

Anything I need to be further than that is eventually going to be a wireless Roland acoustic style drum pad and doesn’t need an SP trigger (tho it will still run through the software), but their fancy wireless trigger adaptors are backordered until March :sob::sob: It’s gonna be pretty sick if it all works as planned, I’ll definitely send y’all a clip of it once it’s all set up

Basically: I have my e kit in my loft, and my loop station is about ten feet away. I have a simple pad setup next to the loop station but I want to throw one of my SP triggers on it and was hoping it was as simple as buying an extended 3.5mm or using a snake/xlr solution  Once I have the wireless triggers I’ll be able to jump into the audience with a drum in hand on top of the loops I make. Right now I just do that with an acoustic tom but eventually even that will be able to tie into the software
