Sensors and practice pad

Has anyone tried using the sensors with practice pads like the ones in the attached picture?

Or does is have to be swinging surface?

I just tried this for fun on one of my pads. It sorrrrrta works, but you lose some of the nuances and zones behave funny. If you just want to use it as a single zone pad it works just fine

My recommendation would be a cheap e-kit with mesh heads, or a small used acoustic kit and put mesh heads on it with rubber rim silencers

If you want similar to this but with mesh, the most compact (and cheapest!) option are the Sabian QTM 10.
