Is the hold and slide function of the Mandala drum v3 achievable with the current SP software? If not, do we think it’s something that can be achievable through an update, etc?
Here’s a link for an example of the feature. It’s pretty sick. The ability to hold and release notes and move around the drum like a guitarist uses strings.
Sensory Percussion detects your hits and processes it through our analysis model. So there’s not a concept of continuous sliding pressure control in SP. I think the Mandala has a bed (or coil?) or FSR sensors, which lets it do that. But on the other hand, it can’t track different gestures that happen in the same spot like SP can. With SP you can hit the same part of the head with a regular hit, damped hit, and stick shot and track that because we are looking at the timbre of the hit. Same with tracking rim-tip and rim-shoulder.
Except for that sliding part of the video, I think SP can do everything else.
But the Mandala is definitely cool. Would make a nice addition to an SP setup. And if it outputs CCs, you can do a lot with that in SP.
