Sequencer does not run constantly in cycle mode

I’ve been working on a new project for a few days and created a layer with a sequencer and four samples. While editing, I noticed that the sequencer doesn’t run consistent in Cycle or Reverse mode but instead jumps irregularly (e.g., 1-3-4 2-3-4 1-2-3 1-3-1, etc.).

At home, I have a desk setup with two V1 triggers connected to two QuitTone pads running through a Motu M4. To make sure it wasn’t a setup issue, I tested the same configuration in my music space. However, there I use V2 triggers with the Portal, connected to converted toms with mesh heads – and I’m getting a similar result.

Before I keep troubleshooting blindly: Has anyone encountered this issue before, or does anyone have an idea what could be causing it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @EarlGrey,

Thanks for writing in. I think the most likely cause for this to happen is that the sequencer is receiving two or more simultaneous hits from your hardware inputs. Since you have two setups, this is likely to occur if you don’t bypass your unused Hardware inputs when you switch setups. This has happened to me before, because I have multiple setups. I sometimes forget and do something like this:

Wherein desk snare 1 and office 1 have the same input badge and the same input channel, and therefore will be sending double hit messages to any modules that are filtered by Snare 1 or All Snares.

Let me know if this fixes the issue for you, and if not, feel free to send a diagnostic report to support@sunhou.se and we will troubleshoot further.

Best,
stevenz

Hi @stevenz,

Thanks so much for your quick and helpful response. That completely solved the issue!

I had been experimenting with various toms and inputs, and most recently, I cut up three old Tamburo shells, modified them, and turned them into six shells for Sensory Percussion. By the end, I had a ton of inputs. Even though I had deactivated most of them, there were still a few active ones that I hadn’t noticed. Your suggestion was a great reminder to clean things up a bit.

That was a super fast reply – really a great and helpful forum here!

Thanks again and best regards,
Earl Grey
