The Shadow Biosphere is a theory that a different form of life may have evolved on Earth entirely separate from the known building blocks of life (DNA, RNA, amino acids, etc).

If a shadow biosphere does actually exist, it would mean that life has independently evolved on Earth more than once. Therefore the likelihood of life on other planets would drastically increase.

If you think the concept sounds farfetched, you’re not alone. And, so far, no shadow biosphere has ever been discovered. But, a somewhat mysterious substance called “desert varnish” has been proposed as a possible candidate for a shadow biospheric organism, due to its unusual chemical composition.

In any case, I thought it would be a cool title for a Sensory Percussion 2 sound pack. Or a series of packs, eventually. This pack - and future packs like it - consists of musical improvisations that I have chopped into tiny grains and made sets with.

Here’s example audio of some of the sets:

I hope you enjoy jamming and creating cool stuff with this pack! If you do enjoy any of the sets, feel free let me know in the comments or by DM. It would make me very happy to hear from you.

Best,
stevenz

Thanks for the pack. I felt this one was too random and glitchy to make a beat with.

Edit: Hhhm, the audio sample you put out sounds good … i will try it out again

nice! Thanks for checking it out  Yeah, experimental electronic music isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so no worries. The pack should sound weird, for sure, but relatively clean…or no CPU clicky/glitchy/poppy distortion, at least.

If you are hearing CPU distortion: there are a lot of samples in most of the kits in this pack, so maybe that’s it. It runs well on my laptop (which is an M2 Macbook pro) at 64 buffer size, but you could try running at a higher buffer size and see if it feels/sounds better to you
