Silent Rim Problem v2

Hallo,

I have a Problem with the sensory v2 Software.
I have v1 and v2 and have silent rim on the drums.
When I play on the rim the Input is very very low on v2 that I have to hit the rim very hard to get a sound - the same trigger on V1 works just fine!
Is there a solution for this problem?

Thank you,
Julian

Hi @Julian - the v1 and v2 sensors are a bit different, but the v2 software has more controls to dial in your signal.

Specifically, there is a slider in the training window that lets you adjust the balance between the rim and head signals. And if the signal is loud enough, you can boost the input volume.

Give that a shot and let me know if it helps.

Julian, a bit more info…

In addition to the software rim/head adjustment, you can also experiment with the attachment of the sensor that might help.

The attachment of V1 sensors is directly onto the rim itself while the V2 sensor’s touch points are on the shell bearing and the underside of the rim (or in some cases the drum head’s hoop). V2 sensors are designed to have a much more consistent sensor response and you might just happen to have a V1 sensor that has a louder rim response than drum head.

But with both sensors the exact balance of rim/head volume depends a lot on the specific drum your attaching it to. If the software setting doesn’t help enough, it might be that on your drum, the rim is not transferring as much vibration to the touch points of the sensor. You can try finding a plastic wedge of some kind and sliding it between your rim and the sensor to make a direct contact.
