Do the cymbals use their own interface, or do they share inputs on the SP2 interface? I already have 7 triggers for drums, and I was considering getting a new interface to add more drums. I really want to invest in the cymbals as well. Do I need three interfaces for a fairly large ekit with cymbals? say 14 pads and 7 cymbals? My last e-kit was huge when I was younger, and I honestly want to get back to that because SP2 is exactly what I needed back then for what I do (Bill Bruford’s Earthworks is an example of the type of stuff I write and play)
Hi @Frameshifter - yes, the cymbal sensors use the same inputs on the portal as the drum sensors. So on each portal, there’s room for 7 of them between drums and cymbals. We know that is pretty limiting for many, but it’s what we have at the moment. There are some ways to expand this here and there – if you can find v1 sensors, you can plug those in the XLR inputs, freeing up 2 slots. You could use a drum trigger for your kick, etc.
It might be possible to combine portal interfaces with Apple’s aggregate device feature, but I’m hesitant to recommend this as we have not tested it. It will also likely add latency to the whole system.
