Anyone have any info on setting this up with superior drummer 3?
Hi @Tc3,
We have a super detailed tutorial on how to do this with SP v1. We haven’t yet updated the templates for V2, but there is a lot of information in the blog post about setting up busses and routing that is generally helpful.

You’d then just need to recreate the MIDI outputs in v2. This page can help with that: How To Send MIDI Out of Sensory Percussion | Sensory Percussion 2 Help
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks
Hi @Tc3,
The SD3 templates have finally been update to Sensory Percussion 2. Here’s the post where you can download them: SP2 to SD3 MIDI Mapping Templates
Could you please give a brief rundown of how to do this? I am new to the system. Not new to midi and edrumming though so I just need an idea of how to hook this up with SD3. Thanks!
Hi @Aka_Wayne,
If you load the template, and check that you are getting MIDI appearing on Sensory Percussion 2’s Hardware Output: MIDI Output | Sensory Percussion 2 Help (hit the drum and see if the MIDI hardware output lights up), then the steps following that will all be the same as in this blog post we did for Sensory Percussion V1: Hooking Sensory Percussion Up to Superior Drummer 3
Let me know if you hit any snags getting MIDI output from Sensory Percussion 2.
The template works great, I just added a midi cc generator, CC16, for the snare positional sensing and it works too, I just had to assign the same note for edge as the center (38) and in the SD3 midi map, remap it to 6 (snare trigger). that way you’ll get center, off center and edge, if you have trained your snare pad accordingly of course.
Thanks for the tips. I hope to have some time to give this a try this weekend. Ill let you know what my results are.
Edxter - Do you have any noticeable latency?
No, not at all, but I have a relatively powerful computer (MacBook Pro m4 pro) so your mileage may vary.
I hope to have time to give it a shot this weekend. I love this system so much already. Can’t wait to dig in.
Also, can someone please explain how to hook up my focusrite scarlett with this? Do I got sp2 to pc via USB then PC to scarlett via USB and out to monitors? Thanks!
Yes you connect it as usual and select it as audio out device in the portal. But why do you want to use another interface? The evans portal is a very capable full blown audio interface
Thanks! Couple of reasons actually…
I am experiencing static/him and read that might help. I also have some silyntha in my setup so it would simplify routing to my monitor and integrating it all.
You can connect your synths to the 4 line inputs on the Portal.
Also, for cable management. It would be better to have one cord from PC/sp2 to my synth rig then one cord to my monitors.
Is there an issue with using another audio interface that way?
Nope, no issues, you do you
Thanks for responding to all my questions. My time to futz around with my set up is so limited so it really helps.
One question, I have my synth rig (routed through my scarlett) connected to the sp2 via the line input on the front. Will I have to turn on my computer every time I only want to play synth? Or just the sp2 needs turned on.
Also, I am experiencing quite a bit of background hum/static. Would putting the scarlett between my computer and synths help with this? I’m considering getting a noise reducer. It’d be cool if sp2 had a built in one.
I’m finally getting around to dedicating some time to setting this up today. What is the best app for creating a midi bus in windows 11. Is midi yoke good still? Its almost 20 years old, lol.
I’m trying LoopBe1 for virtual midi on my new Windows 11 laptop, I’ll update on how it all shakes out. I just git a new system so had to install sd3 from scratch.
