These look great! I can see it’s pre-order on the website. Do you have a timeframe for when they might ship?
Thanks! We’re targeting the mid/late January for US orders. Shortly after that for everywhere else. It’s all about when the units come from the manufacturer and get tested, etc.
Understood, thanks for the quick reply!
Also, will these be useable with regular cymbals or are they designed specially for use only with the Evans DB Zero cymbals?
That’s on our roadmap: third-party low-volume cymbals and regular acoustic cymbals. But for now, our model is tuned just to the EVANS dB One cymbals. This is also why Evans is including these cymbals for free.
There is no training process for these sensors – you just add it and it works.
Ok, thanks!
Amazing! Do you know if the discounted pre-order price will be available to your friends in Australia?
Hi Brad - unfortunately, it’s not at the moment. Certifications and blah, blah… But I’m going to keep bugging them about Aus/NZ! Sorry about that
Just pre-ordered a whole pack! I currently have Roland digital hi hats and three of their digital rides running through SP2 and can’t wait to have a native solution that frees up some CC’s!
Awesome! Been with SP since almost day one. Really happy to see the continued innovation. I was doing hybrid with real miked cymbals/hihats so this is an awesome development!!
Curious to know more on this – I know it’s early days, but is the compatibility with other cymbals planned to be through software improvements, or through potentially slightly different sensors designed for acoustic/other cymbals?
“There is no training process for these sensors – you just add it and it works.”
The fact that these are plug and play is a massive selling point! I had no idea from the promo videos. I feel you should add this to the YouTube/social posts. One of the downsides of SP is worrying about retraining zones on gigs, etc rather than just plug and play. I had decided against going for these but now with this new info I’m reconsidering!
Is there any magnet to install on these like with the drums? I’m assuming not.
On a side note I’ve previously had a lot of success training SP to recognise different sounds from my acoustic hihat (closed/open/bell) using a contact mic attached to the hihat clutch so I’m pretty hopeful that these specially designed sensors will make training that even easier.
Hi @rrv24 it will be just software. But there will be certain cymbals that won’t be compatible with the hardware. Just like with the drums. But we don’t have any plans on changing the hardware to accommodate acoustic cymbals. It will all happen on the software side.
There’s no magnet to apply to the cymbal; it’s all built into the sensor. We’re pretty proud of how simple it all is. It just works out of the box without training. Using other cymbals will require a training step, which we’re still working out.
That’s true we didn’t really push the no-training aspect in the initial videos. But we have a lot more videos and things to share digging into how it all works coming soon!
Just put in my order, bought the whole bundle, can’t wait!
Sensory Percussion never ceases to blow my mind. Fantastic stuff.

So the bundle pack has 2 Sensory Percussion Cymbal Sensors, 1 Hi-Hat Sensor and a pack of 4 EVANS dB One Cymbals? Seems like we have 1 extra cymbal but short 1 sensor? What do I have wrong? Also When will the pre order sale end?
Hi @SteveSleeve - well, it came about because the EVANS already had a 4-pack bundle of their cymbals and they recently came out with individual packs. So instead of packing multiple boxes of individual cymbals, they thought it’d be easier (and nice) to just include the full 4-pack with the 3 sensor bundle. So if you do want to order 3 cymbal sensors and 1 hi-hat sensor, you will end up with 2 extra cymbals. ![]()
Wait.. the Roland digital snare/ride/hihats can be routed through SP2?
